Do you know how does alcohol metabolism work in your body?

There are two enzymes involved in the metabolism of alcohol. After entering your body, alcohol is rapidly absorbed into the blood circulation through the stomach, and then catabolizes in the liver. ADH converts ethanol into acetaldehyde, and ALDH converts acetaldehyde into acetate which enters the tricarboxylic acid cycle in the human body for absorption and utilization. Therefore, the alcohol intake limit mainly depends on the ability of the two enzymes. The gene expression of these two enzymes is different for each person, so the human body's alcohol metabolism ability can be predicted to a large extent by measuring the expression amount of individual specific enzyme activity genes. This is the principle of genetic alcohol measurement.

ICAB Genetic Alcohol Tolerance Testing Device

ICAB rapid alcohol tolerance testing device was developed by China National Research Institute of Food & Fermentation Industries. It takes 60 minutes to test gene's alcohol metabolism capacity which can be quantified to detailed consumption volume. 1ml of saliva allows our staff to extract the genome and 60 minutes later, the result can be seen and printed. According to testing results,people can make well-informed decisions and drink rationally.

According to the genetic testing results, your alcohol tolerance volume is higher than 6 liang（300ml) with a relatively fast alcohol metabolism rate. Please drink reasonably and maintain a healthy drinking habit based on your body's reaction.Your SNP site test result on ADH1B indicates a single-site variation, with moderate ethanol dehydrogenase activity and a relatively fast rate of metabolizing ethanol into acetaldehyde. Your SNP site test result on ALDH2 shows no variation. You have high aldehyde dehydrogenase activity, resulting in a rapid metabolism of acetaldehyde into acetic acid, and acetaldehyde is not prone to accumulation in your body.
